CPL Muse was killed in a ground contact west of Fire Support Base Becky, War Zone C, Tay Ninh Province — Companies A and D, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry engaged an NVA force later identified as the 95th Regiment, 1st NVA Division, per the division's quarterly operational report. He sustained gun or small arms fire. He was 21 years old.
