PVT Zuniga was killed in a ground attack on Fire Support Base Becky, War Zone C, Tay Ninh Province — a mortar, RPG, and sapper assault that cost D and E Companies, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry 4 killed and 14 wounded, per the division's quarterly operational report. He sustained multiple fragmentation wounds. He was 21 years old.
