Binh Tuy Bunker Complex Raid — SE of FSB Fontaine
Range Platoon entered a large VC bunker complex and supply depot in a high saddle of a small mountain southeast of FSB Fontaine, Binh Tuy Province. On orders from Lt. Frank Guidara (Range 6), Davis belly-crawled under a rock outcrop in pitch darkness and discovered the decomposing body of a VC soldier killed in a prior airstrike. The sweep yielded one of the largest cache finds in the company's history: over 24,000 lbs of flour, 2,300 lbs of polished rice, 1,400 lbs of salt, seven SKS rifles, one B-40 recoilless, a VC clothing factory with three Singer sewing machines, and materiel stamped with the USAID logo. Davis recovered an SKS rifle and a camo beret. Echo Recon assisted with the lift-out over several days.
